We had an old showerhead lying around in my parents house, much neglected from sight and care. So I quietly picked it up and brought it home. Eventually Dipang found a way to put it to use ( we don't use the shower at home..Yes, we use the bucket!!) The brass piece is from an old broken incense holder. The beautiful number came about right on time to counter the frequent power cuts in town of late.

Old newspapers transformed into a cute basket

D and I wove this basket from a stack of old newspapers. I stitched the hemming cum insides and added the ribbon to give it a cute touch. At present I'm using it to hold my lace stash. Whadya think? You can try it yourself.

We made this one from a broken piece of urn that was lying around in the house. Why throw away anything at all?!! It could have been a fruit bowl but we sculpted it into an ashtray for parties...because it can hold so much of those cigarette stubs. It sits outside of course...:)

These placemats are a part of the Flower Power Collection. All of them are hand-made using water colors, crayons and decoupage as techniques and then laminated finally. Protein Mix (Satua)

This Protein Mix has been devised with health and nutrition for the body in mind especially in the form of protein. The nutritional value of a protein food can be judged by its ability to provide both the quantity and number of essential amino acids needed by the body. Different food sources contain different groups of proteins, which are made up of different arrangements and amounts of amino acids. Proteins may be deficient in one or other of the essential amino acids. For example, the proteins obtained from wheat lack adequate quantities of one essential amino acid, and those from beans are deficient in another.

Hence, our Protein Mix is a combination of five different protein types that can be consumed by the body daily in different forms. They come in two different packages, with cardamom and without. The choice is yours.

I prefer to consume mine mixed with the aata while kneading the dough for my rotis. Others prefer to mix a tbsp or so in their morning porridge or just roast it in and have it with milk and some honey. Again, the choice is yours.

There's nothing that can make one salivate (at least me) than the ever ubiquitous kinema (fermented soya bean) of Darjeeling and the Hills. I like it in all forms; dried, curried, in soups, fried rice the list being endless. Having also come across other Kinema lovers like me, I especially concocted this recipe in pickle form for those who would want its unique flavour with just about anything they eat...yes, there are people like that!!

This half eaten jar of peanut butter is a tried and tested recipe of mine, also a favorite with family and friends. Hasty Hat

This treat is made with silk yarn which was a new arrival at our local yarn store. I picked it up hastily thinking it might be grabbed by another enthusiastic knitter since such treats are hard to come by here.

I also hastily put together a hat with it for Zayn wanting to know how it feels to the needles and to the touch. I think my little one likes it since he wears it everytime he goes out to play with his buddies in the winter sun. It's quite warm actually since the yarn seems to be a mixture of silk and wool.

It's easy to make too, if you know how to knit and purl. Can be done in a jiffy. In my excitement of having something new in my hands, I finished it in a day.

The Darjeeling Blues rectangular pillow is specially made for the quintessential music lover, an attribute of most people that is so entwined to our Hills. It's design is embroidered with wool and patched with faux leather.

The Big Chief bookmark

We made the Big Chief Bookmark for Big Chief's birthday (my Dad). He heads the family (Mom would beg to differ!) and he loves to read; the rest can be figured. Three daisy petals are stuck on the bookmark, which were from an Oct 30 08 bloom.
All the materials are recycled. Big Chief's headgear has been created with dried, glazed and twirled corn leaves.

Quilted Runner

This quilted patchwork runner was made with Mom in mind since she wanted something thick and protective over her new dining table. It took me quite a while to finish this project between other projects and pure laziness but eventually, I got it done. She liked it too though her praises were interposed with a couple of ho's and hum's.
